Hello friends!

On our way back home, we were remembering some fun facts about Jaipur.. Thought will share a few with you to make your trip a better experience…

MIRINDA fun facts! – JAIPUR

  • Samode Palace – Given its palatial architecture, the stairs of Samode Palace are quite steep and can be troublesome to people with knee problems. Similarly, the ceiling height is also quite low and hence it is best advisable to walk with a bent back to avoid accidents.

  • As part of the package at the Samode Palace, the guests have an option to opt for one meal at “Samode Baug”, which is another property of Samode located just 3 kms from Samode Palace.  We chose to have the breakfast the next day at Samode Baug.

  • Even though Jaipur is known as the Pink city, the buildings are of Rust color (Brick colour) and not Pink. It is a common mistake made by all tourists.

  • Cab rides in the Jaipur city are a sight-seeing in themselves. We were staying in the old Pink City of Jaipur. The streets in the old city are always bustling with various shop vendors selling local Jaipur selections, numerous restaurants and cafes and some wonderful heritage sights.  We strongly recommend taking a walk/cab ride through this streets to experience the pleasant chaos encompassing Jaipur.

  • Amer Fort hosts the sound and light show in the evening with commentary in English and Hindi. The show lasts about 1 hour and has mesmerizing music from lead singers like Ustad Sultan Khan & Shubha Mudgal.

  • The Chandra Mahal palace, part of the city Palace now houses a museum, but the greatest part of it is still a royal residence to the Royal Family of Jaipur.

  • Bapu Bazaar is a one stop destination for all the Jaipuri items as you could almost buy anything for a reasonable price.

  • The main architect of Hawa Mahal built of red and pink sandstone, is Lal Chand Ustad and the palace is believed to have been constructed in the form of the crown of Krishna, the Hindu god. Considered as an embodiment of Rajputana architecture, the main highlight of Hawa Mahal is its pyramid shape and its 953 windows or ‘Jharokhas’ which are decorated with intricate designs.

  • The Jaipur observatory at Jantar Mantar was functional for seven years only, as the Maharaja was not very successful in deriving accurate, astronomical observations.

Hope this helps!
